Partnership Opportunities

The only active NCAA Division II institution in Northeast Ohio, Lake Erie College is growing into one of the premier athletic programs in the region.  Just four years ago, Lake Erie fielded 10 varsity teams at the Division III level. The school’s roster of athletic offerings now features 23 sports, the Storm became an active member of D-II last fall and will become a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) beginning with the 2010-11 school year. Lake Erie is also a member of the nation’s premier lacrosse league, the East Coast Conference (ECC), and competes regularly in the East Coast Athletic Confernece (ECAC).

In just its second year as a full Division II member, Lake Erie had a record-setting year. Most notably the women’s basketball, baseball and football teams all won more games than at any other point in school history and Storm baseball’s 19-4 defeat of Cleveland State on March 28 marked the school’s first victory over a Division I opponent.  Two members of the track and field team earned All-American honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and the men’s and women’s lacrosse programs made their varsity debuts with significant success.

Over 16,000 fans attended Lake Erie sporting events last year and many more are expected to make their way to Painesville with the Storm’s move to the GLIAC.  Nearly 36,000 fans enjoyed GLIAC football each week and the average attendance for road basketball games in the league was approximately 2,000 for men’s basketball and 1,200 for women’s games.
