The student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) is a group gathered to facilitate communication between the student-athletes and Lake Erie College Athletic Department. This is accomplished by providing a forum of members from each varsity team to discuss issues of concern regarding athletic department policies and procedures as well as NCAA regulations. The goal of the committee is to build a sense of community within the athletics department involving all athletic teams. Other objectives include promoting athletics programs on campus as well as within the local community and engaging in community service activities to put together ample opportunities for varsity teams to join in projects.
To become a member of SAAC, you must be on a Lake Erie College varsity roster and attend bi-weekly meetings. Any number of student-athletes from one team are allowed to attend, and encouraged to do so.
The mission of the Lake Erie College SAAC is to enhance the overall collegiate experience as well as to promote a positive student-athlete image. In addition, it emphasizes recognition and participation in athletic, academic, and service achievements.
The purpose of SAAC is to represent a voice of the student-athletes on campus, to promote efficient communication with the athletic personnel, to provide educational and social programs while encouraging involvement in these programs. Also, SAAC promotes opportunity for all student-athletes, protecting the welfare of student-athletes, and fostering a positive student-athlete image while maintaining the tenants of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II philosophy.
