Barb Moore became the head athletics trainer for the Storm athletics department in March 2007. She is responsible for the athletic health care associated with Lake Erie’s 20 athletic teams. She also oversees the field work of the sports medicine student aides and teaches several classes at Lake Erie including sports medicine and first aid/CPR.

Moore has a professional license from Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainers Board, certification from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and is a NATA Certified Examiner and an American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider.

She is a member of NATA, the Ohio Athletic Trainers’ Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Moore is a graduate of Heidelberg College with a bachelor’s degree in health physical education and education, as well as a graduate of West Virginia University with a master’s degree in athletic training. She currently resides in Perry.

Molly (Sersig)Hoffman joined the Lake Erie College Department of Athletics in the summer of 2009 and is in her second year as an assistant athletic trainer. She aids in the supervision, instruction, and participation of the prevention, care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for all 23 Storm varsity sports.

She came to Lake Erie from nearby John Carroll University where she was an assistant athletic trainer for two years working primarily with the varsity soccer, basketball and softball programs in addition to several club sports.

A 2007 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training and exercise science, Hoffman was an All-Ohio Athletic Conference softball player for the Yellow Jackets.  

She is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association and the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association (OATA)

A native of Wooster, Ohio, Hoffman and her husband Zach, who is also an athletic trainer, reside in Madison, Ohio.

Nicole Ackermann joined the Lake Erie Department of Athletics as an assistant athletic trainer in November of 2010.  She aids in the supervision, instruction, and participation of the prevention, care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for all 23 Storm varsity sports.

Ackermann graduated from the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D., in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in athletic trainer and a minor in philosophy/theology. 

While at Mary, she was a four-year varsity track and field athlete for the Marauders, competing in the pole vault.  She placed second in the event as a sophomore at the Northern sun Intercollegiate Conference championship meet and was part of a team that won two NSIC indoor and three outdoor track and field team championships.

A native of Sheridan, Wyo., Ackermann is certified in first aid and CPR through the Red Cross and the American Heart Association.  She currently resides in Chardon, Ohio.
