Cacique Named to Daktronics All-Region Team
Following a stellar season for the Storm, senior second baseman Brayan Cacique was named to the Daktronics, Inc. All-Midwest Region First Team, selected by the region's sports information directors. Also a first-team All-GLIAC pick, Cacique now advances to the national ballot.

Lake Erie had the lead three times after the eighth inning, but Saginaw Valley State came back each time, scoring the winning run on a bases-loaded squeeze bunt in the bottom of the 15th to eliminate the Storm from the GLIAC Tournament, 7-6.

The Storm had seven players named to the all-conference squad announced Tuesday night, led by first-team selections Matt Toth and Brayan Cacique. Pat Kilway, Adam Beach and Brian Kilway made the second team while Cody Blood and Doug Fox were honorable mention selections.

Third-seed Lake Erie will make its debut in the conference postseason May 9 at 5:30 p.m. against the fourth-seeded Tiffin Dragons. The Storm is coming off its most successful regular season ever and looks to earn its first GLIAC title and NCAA berth this week.

GLIAC Baseball Tournament Field Set
BAY CITY, Mich. - The 2012 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Baseball Tournament Field is set. The Tournament, held at V.A. Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio, begins with three games on Wednesday, May 9. Lake Erie, the third seed, will play Tiffin at 5:30 p.m.

Storm Falls in Pair of One-Run Thrillers at Wayne State on Final Day of Regular Season
Lake Erie battled back from a 4-1 deficit to tie the game, but saw the Warriors pull out a 5-4 win in extra innings in the opener. Then in game two, the Storm's 9-run fifth inning was answered by a 10-spot by the home team in the bottom half and the final out at home plate gave Wayne State a 12-11 win. With the two losses, the Storm will be the third seed in next week's GLIAC Tournament.

Nick Lovick singled in the winning run in the eighth inning to give Lake Erie a 5-4 win at Wayne State in Saturday's first game. The Storm dropped game two, 5-1, but assured themselves of a top-three finish in the GLIAC regular season standings.

By virtue of a 4-2 win in Wednesday's opener, Lake Erie secured a spot in next week's conference championship tournament. The Storm got five strong innings from senior Michael Backes and a two-run home run by Aaron Lindgren en route to the win. In game two, a late rally came up just short in a 6-5 Panther victory.

Lake Erie set a new school record with its 22nd win, earning a split in a key GLIAC doubleheader at Ashland. They took game one, 5-1, but Lake Erie rebounded with a 9-0 victory in the nightcap. Senior Matt Toth went 6-for-7 in the games.

Adam Beach tossed a complete game and Cory Fox (pictured) threw five shutout innings in his first collegiate start to propel Lake Erie to a sweep of the Timberwolves on Sunday, 4-3 and 10-0, to win the series and match last season's record win total of 21.

Brian Kilway and Logan Nordquist each allowed one run in complete game gems, but the Lake Erie offense managed only 10 hits in the doubleheader at Northwood. The Storm managed two runs in a 2-1 win in the opener behind Kilway, but were shutout 1-0 in game two.

Twenty-fourth ranked Mercyhurst scored multiple runs in four innings en route to a 12-5 victory over Lake Erie Wednesday at Braggs Field. Josh Crout had two hits and drove in a pair of runs in a losing effort for the Storm.

Longball Leads Storm to Sunday Split, Series Win Against Findlay
A combined 10 balls left the yard on Sunday as the Storm and Oilers combined for a pair of wild shootouts to wrap up their weekend set. Cody Blood homered twice and Brayan Cacique singled in the winning run in game one for a 13-12 win. Findlay got a grand slam from Victor Migliore and two other homers to take game two 16-13.

Lake Erie Sweeps Findlay to Take OVer Top Spot in GLIAC
Brayan Caicque homered in each game, Matt Toth had a combined five hits and Brian Kilway threw a complete game in the opener as the Storm defeated the visiting Oilers 8-2 and 15-4 on Saturday. The victories ran LEC's winning streak to five straight and pushed the Storm into sole possession of first place in the conference standings.

After winning the opener, 5-1, Lake Erie scored four times in the seventh and held on for a 6-4 win in game two, picking up its first two wins against the Panthers. Doug Fox saved both games as the Storm moved back over .500 and into a first-place tie in the conference.

For the third time in the series, Lake Erie and Tiffin played extra innings and split a pair of run-one games for the second straight day Sunday at Heminger Field. The Dragons won the opener in nine innings, 2-1, before Logan Nordquist shutout the home team in a 1-0 Storm victory in the finale.

Brian Kilway and Brad Raley combined to allow just one run in 13 innings Sunday as the Storm completed a four-game sweep of Hillsdale. Kilway threw a two-hit shutout in a 3-0 game one win while Raley went six strong innings in a 4-1 victory in game two.
