CLEVELAND, MISS. --  Despite a season high in both hits and runs, the Lake Erie College baseball team dropped its second straight game, falling at third-ranked Delta State University 12-6 in the second and final game of the series at Ferris Field.

The Storm (1-6) trailed 7-0 before exploding for a five-run fifth inning to get back into the game.  Lake Erie scored all five runs with two outs, including two-RBI hits by senior catcher Nick Lovick (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) and junior thirdbaseman Cody Blood (Conneaut, Ohio/Conneaut).

However, the Statesmen (14-3) scored a pair of runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to put an end to the Storm's comeback hopes.  Lake Erie scored an unearned run in the eighth.

Sophomore Reid Rizzo (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) had a career-high three hits and scored twice for the Storm, extending his hitting streak to a modest five games.  Senior DH Kyle Kemp (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe) also had three hits and Blood added two to the Storm's total of 13.

Senior outfielder Brayan Cacique (Caracas, Venezuela/John I. Leonard/Lakeland C.C.) also extending his hitting streak to five games with a sixth-inning single.

Jordan Chovanec went 4-for-5 for the Statesmen.  Brent Langston added three hits and three players each had two RBIs.  Every starter in Delta State's lineup had at least one hit.

Drew Milligan pitched into the fifth, allowing two runs on five hits. He struck out six to improve to 1-0 on the season.

Sophomore Brad Raley (Hickley, Ohio/Highland) lasted just two innings, allowing six runs on 10 hits in his first start of the season, falling to 0-1.

Lake Erie wraps up its Spring Break trip Thursday, March 15, with a doubleheader against the University of Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas University in Monticello, Ark., beginning at 11 a.m.
