Storm Baseball Falls on the Road to Mercyhurst

ERIE, Pa.—The Lake Erie College baseball team fell to Mercyhurst University 14-0 in nonconference action Tuesday (April 5) on the road.

"The guys just are not playing up to the level of expectation I have of them," said Storm Head Coach Brian McGee. "We must remember our program was built on the perseverance of the many obstacles we have faced. This is just another challenge set in front of us.  I'm confident we will once again persevere because our character and talent will pull us through."

Nigel Williams (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle) and Tyler Kmitt (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) had hits for the Storm.

Matthew Fiorini (Schomberg, Ont./St. Maximilian Kolbe) was effective in relief for the Storm, going 2.2 innings allowing one run with five strikeouts.  Peter Theodos (St. Albans, W. Va./St. Albans) also struck out five batters in 2.1 innings of work.

The Storm returns to the friendly confines of Kiwanis Recreation Park in Painesville this weekend for a four-game Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) series against Walsh University.
