Lake Erie Plans Patriot Day Festivities for Home Opener on Sept. 11

PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- The Lake Erie College Department of Athletics is planning its first Patriot Day celebration in conjunction with the first home football game of the 2010 season. Lake Erie will host Michigan Tech Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium at Painesville Kiwanis Recreation Park. Game time is 1 p.m.

The College is inviting law enforcement, fire and emergency medical professionals to attend the game free of charge. Members of the aforementioned agencies must present their ID badges for free admittance to the Sept. 11 game. The ID badge admits the public servant and one (1) guest.

Lake Erie will also honor U.S. veterans and active military personnel on Patriot Day. The College is inviting veterans and active servicemen and women to attend the game free of charge. Individuals must present a military/veterans' ID for free admittance to the Sept. 11 game. The ID admits the veteran/serviceperson and one (1) guest.

There will be special acknowledgments throughout the game, including an on-field recognition before the game, which also serves as Lake Erie's first-ever Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) game.   There will also be a free tailgate for fans before the game, beginning at 11 a.m. For additional information about Patriots Day at Lake Erie College, please contact Brian Schiffbauer at 440.375.7040 or bschiffbauer@lec.edu.
