Three Named to OFC Preseason All-Ohio Team
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Lake Erie College football team garnered its first preseason awards on Friday (Aug. 17) with three players being named to the OhioCollegeFootball.com Preseason All-Ohio FCS/DII Team presented by the Ohio Army National Guard.
Senior kicker/punter Sam Marcotte (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) was the Storm's lone first team selection. Marcotte enters the season with 187 career points.
Fifth-year senior offensive lineman Mike McElligot (Warrensville Heights, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel), an All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) pick in 2011, and senior defensive lineman Taylor Leppla (Cambridge, Ohio/Cambridge) were both second-team picks.
The Storm opens the 2012 campaign on Thursday night, Aug. 30, with "The Battle of Lake Erie" at Gannon University. Kickoff for the Captain's Wheel trophy is at 7 p.m.
