PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- The Lake Erie College football team travels to Big Rapids, Mich. to face Ferris State University in the Great Lakes Athletic Conference opener for both teams after each team suffered a defeat in their season opener… despite 650 yards of offense, the Storm fell to archrival Gannon 36-33 in the Battle for the Ship's Wheel Trophy last week (Sept. 5)… sophomore RB Anthony Bilal (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) rushed for a career-high 210 yards and three TDs, earning GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors… as a team, the Storm ran for a school, single-game record 374 yards against the Golden Knights… redshirt senior QB Brendan Gallagher (Aurora, Ohio/Aurora) completed 26-of-36 passes for 276 yards – all career highs – and rushed for 88 yards in the opener. He did not commit a turnover in leading the Storm offense… Ferris State lost its first game to two-time defending FCS champion North Dakota State University 56-10 on Saturday Sept. 7 in Fargo, N.D…. despite the loss, QB Jason Vander Laan rushed for 100 yards and threw a touchdown pass in one half of action… Lake Erie is 1-16 all time against teams from Michigan.
