PAINESVILLE, Ohio—Lake Erie College junior running back Anthony Bilal (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) was named to the Football Gameplan Division-II Preseason All-American Second-Team.
The Football Gameplan Division-II Preseason All-American Team is voted on by the staff of FootballGamePlan.com.
This is the second Preseason All-American honor for Bilal, who was recently named a USA College Football Division-II Preseason All-American Honorable Mention.
Bilal set many program-highs in 2013, finishing as one of the nation's top rushing leaders. Bilal accounted for 60 percent of Lake Erie's effective ground game, rushing for 1,542 yards and 24 touchdowns while averaging 5.8 yards per carry. The 1,542 rushing yards was the ninth most in Division-II and his 24 rushing touchdowns tied for the second most in the country.
He rushed for a touchdown in 10 games last season, including eight games with at least two scores and two games with four. The Painesville native averaged 140.2 rushing yards a game. He rushed for 100 yards or more in eight games, including five games of 150 yards or better, and pair of 200 yard rushing games. Against Notre Dame College on October 12, Bilal set a program-high for rushing yards in a game with 235.
In addition to his rushing stats, Bilal caught 15 passes for 85 yards out of the backfield.
The Storm open their 2014 season in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) showdown at Ashland University on September 6.
