BAY CITY, Mich.—The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) released its annual Preseason Coaches' Poll in conjunction with the launch of the conference's media day central website Tuesday (August 12).
The Storm was selected to finish fourth in the South Division.
Lake Erie had one of its best seasons in 2013, finishing 4-7 (3-6 GLIAC), boasting the second ranked offense in the country. The Storm received 16 points in the South Division poll. Ohio Dominican University was tabbed as the top team in the South, receiving 36 overall points and six first-place votes. The University of Findlay was selected to finish second, receiving 30 total points and one first-place vote while Ashland University was selected to finish third with 27 points. Following the Storm was Walsh University with 16 points, Tiffin University with 14 points and Malone University with eight points.
Grand Valley State University was tabbed as the top team in the North Division.

Several Storm players have received preseason honors through various media outlets heading into the season. Linebacker Tanner Wells (Carrollton, Texas/Parish Episcopal) and defensive end Kyle Herth (Harrison, Ohio/LaSalle) earned spots on the USA College Football Preseason All-American Third-Team Defense while running back Anthony Bilal (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside), center Corbin Jackimowicz (North Fort Myers Fla./North Fort Myers), right guard Ben Miller (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) and wide receiver Shane Van Fleteren (Shelby, Mich./Utica) earned spots on the Honorable Mention Offensive Team. Bilal also earned a spot on the Football Gameplan Preseason All-American Second-Team. Wells and wide receiver Tommy Jackson (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) earned spots on the Beyond Sports Network GLIAC Preseason All-Conference Team.
The Storm opens their 2014 campaign on September 6 at Ashland.
