Storm's Season High From Arc Can't Close Out Clarion

CLARION, Pa. (December 3, 2008) - Lake Erie College connected on a season-high nine 3-pointers, but it wasn't enough to pull out a win on the road against Clarion University as the Storm lost, 87-66. The lead changed hands four times in the first half with Lake Erie leading by as many as five just under five minutes into the game after seniors Rick Leasure (Concord, Ohio/Riverside), John Dickinson (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) and Matt Moore (Frederickton, Ohio/Frederickton) all hit 3-pointers. The score got tied up at 21 at the 11-minute mark, which was the final time the Storm would be even with its hosts. Clarion built a lead of nine after hitting a 3-pointer to end the half at 39-30.

Lake Erie increased its scoring by six in the second period, but allowed Clarion to outscore them by 12. The Storm finished the game shooting 42-percent from the floor (24-for-57), 43-percent from three-point territory (9-for-21) and 69-percent from the free throw line (9-for-13). Four of the team's players scored in double figures with Leasure's 13 points leading the way. Moore and sophomore Ethan Bradshaw (Cincinnati, Ohio/Harmony Prep) had 12 each and senior Derrick Thornton (University Heights, Ohio/Lutheran East) contributed 11.  Bradshaw and Thornton led the team with six rebounds apiece. Dickinson tied his career-high with seven assists.
