Men's Basketball Adds Thomas to 2010 Recruiting Class as Early Signee

PAINESVILLE, OHIO - Lake Erie College men's basketball coach Cliff Hunt has announced the signing of Riley Thomas (Cardington, Ohio/Cardington-Lincoln) to a National Letter of Intent  during the early signing period, which began Nov. 11. Thomas is the first member of the Storm's 2010 recruiting class.

"Riley is exactly the kind of combination guard we were looking for to strengthen our backcourt," Hunt said. "He is a proven scorer with a great feel for the game who knows how to play on the offensive side and he is a great athlete and defender on defense. He is a perfect fit for us and is the foundation of a very important recruiting class as we prepare to enter the GLIAC in 2010. "

The current senior is in his fourth season as a starting guard at Cardington-Lincoln.  As a junior he was named second-team All-Ohio after averaging 23.1 points, 5.0 assists and 3.6 steals per game.  The league's leading scorer, he was named a first-team all-district and All-Mid Ohio Athletic Conference and was named the District II and MOAC player of the year for head coach Troy King.

Also a four-year starter in football for the Pirates, Thomas was also a MOAC Silver Scholar Award recipient and team captain.   His parents are Roger and Chris Thomas.
