Men's Basketball Signs Indianapolis Guard Sean Howard
PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Prior to the season-opener tipping off, Lake Erie College men's basketball coach Cliff Hunt announced the signing of Sean Howard to a National Letter of Intent (NLI) on Wednesday (Nov. 14).
Howard, a point guard, is in his senior season at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, Ind. where he plays for Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame coach Jack Keefer. He is the first member of the Storm's 2013 recruiting class.
"Sean is a true point guard who is a leader on the floor and makes the players around him better," said Hunt. "He has the entire skill set that we want at that position and we are excited to have him come into our program."
Howard averaged 9.3 points, 4.2 assists and 1.9 steals per game as a junior last year and was highly recruited by teams in both the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). He is ranked 42nd in the Indiana Recruiting Guide Class of 2013 Top 50 and his team entered the year ranked seventh in Indiana 4A (Big School Division).
Away from the court, Howard is an honor student and member of the National Honor Society.
"We believe Sean is a perfect fit for the way we play and what we expect from the guard position," Hunt added. "We expect him to compete immediately for a chance to break into our guard rotation."
Lake Erie opens the 2012-13 season Wednesday night at home against Point Park University. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Jerome T. Osborne Family Athletic and Wellness Center.
