Storm Dominates Ohio Midwestern, 99-60

PAINESVILLE, Ohio—The Lake Erie College men's basketball team opened the home portion of their 2014-15 season in dominate fashion, defeating the Ohio Midwestern University Rams 99-60 Tuesday night (Nov. 25).

The Storm took over the game quickly, scoring 16 of the first 18 points of the game.  They eventually led by as much as 34 as they took a 46-16 lead into the half. 

Jamil Dudley (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon) led the Storm with ten points in the opening half.  Andy Bosley (Columbus, Ohio/Orange) added seven.  Michael Morris (New Palestine, Indiana/New Palestine) had six points while Nick Deitsch (Lewis Center, Ohio/Orange) had five.  Overall, the Storm converted 58.4% (19-of-32) of their shots from the floor including six-of-11 (54.5%) of their three-pointers.

The Storm continued to shoot well in the second-half, leading by 48 just eight minutes in.  Shooting 64.3% (18-of-28) in the second half, the Storm netted 53 points as they sealed the victory.

Dudley led the Storm with 17 points, hitting seven-of-eight (88.5%) of his shots from the floor including three-of-four (75%) from the three-point arc.  He also had three rebounds and three assists.  Bosley continued his hot start this season by scoring 15 points on five-of-eight (62.5%) while grabbing three rebounds and tallying a career-high four steals. Deitsch had a career-high 12 points on five-of-seven shooting (71.4%) while also tying career-highs with three rebounds, four assists and two steals.  Nick Wells (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary) added 10 points on four-of-six shooting (66.7%). 

Roy Alexander (Columbus, Ohio/Walnut Grove) had eight points and a team-high five rebounds. Steve Walczak (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy), Morris and Darin Lewis (Cleveland, Ohio/Cuyahoga Heights) added six points each.  Kyle Hagey (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) ended the game with five points while Jordan Michael (Fairborn, Ohio/Fairborn) had four and Collin Barth (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) and Sean Howard (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) had three each.  Trey Howard (Lima, Ohio/Lima Shawnee) and Ryan Nutter (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) had two apiece.

Overall, the Storm shot 61.7% (37-of-60) from the floor including 10-of-20 (50%) from the three-point line.  They outrebounded the Rams 34-33 and had a 14-23 advantage in turnovers.  The Storm tallied 14 steals.  Off turnovers, the Storm scored 31 points.

Lake Erie did well in transition, outscoring the Rams 22-6 on fast break opportunities.  The bench from Lake Erie had one of their best games of the season, contributing 53 of the 99 points.

The Storm is back in action this Saturday (Nov. 29) when they wrap-up the nonconference portion of their schedule at West Virginia Wesleyan University.
