Storm Tops Toronto 3D in Exhibition

PAINESVILLE, Ohio— The Lake Erie College men's basketball team defeated the Toronto 3D in an exhibition game Sunday (Nov. 8) in Painesville.

The Toronto 3D is a basketball program based out of Toronto that provides a platform that allows elite players in the area to continue to develop, complete and gain exposure at the highest levels.  They participated in professional US leagues.

The 3D jumped out to an early lead but the Storm quickly closed the gap.  Collin Barth (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) hit a pair of free throws to tie the game at 11.  Trey Howard (Lima, Ohio/Lima Shawnee) followed that up with a three to give the Storm a 14-11.  The 3D fought back and regained control.  With the game tied at 27, Barth hit a three.  Bosley heated up down the stretch, hitting all five of his first-half free throws as they led 37-31 at the break.

Bosley led the Storm with 15 first half points and eight rebounds. Barth had five while Sean Howard (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) had four. 

The Storm grew their lead to 50-39 to open the second half.  However, the 3D fought back and took the lead, 62-59.  Barth evened the game out with a three.  After back-and-forth play, the Storm went on a 9-0 run, with threes from Sean Howard, Trey Howard and Roy Alexander (Columbus, Ohio/Walnut Ridge).  The Storm defense buckled down, protecting the lead.  Bosley, Sean Howard and Trey Howard all hit clutch free throws in the final minute to secure the win, 91-81. 

Bosley ended the game with a team-high 24 points, 13 rebounds and five assists.  Sean Howard scored 15 while Trey Howard had 14.  Nick Wells (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary's) and Alexander and nine points and six rebounds apiece.  Barth finished with eight points and two rebounds. 

The Storm open up the regular season next weekend in a neutral site contest against the University of Indianapolis.
