#StormWarning: Lake Erie Hosts Alderson Broaddus in G-MAC Opener

(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – Expectations were high coming into the season after a G-MAC Tournament semifinal appearance a season ago. Now after six games against quality opposition, Lake Erie is ready to start conference play as it hosts Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins this weekend.

First up for the Storm (3-3) are the Battlers (2-3) who have been known as constants in postseason play for the past two decades. Last year Lake Erie took both games from the Battlers by scores of 77-61 and 73-63.

Both teams are were near the top of the G-MAC Preseason Coaches Poll presented by Under Armour. Lake Erie was picked sixth and received 101 points with one first place vote, while the Battlers were picked just ahead of the Storm in fifth with 101 points.

Lake Erie enters tomorrow's contest as one of the most difficult teams in the conference to score on as it yields just 67.5 points per game. The Storm is also one of the best rebounding teams in the conference with an average of 42 boards per game. Both marks are currently second in the G-MAC.

On the opposite end, Alderson Broaddus is one of the better teams in the league in rebounding defense. So far this season opponents average 32.4 per game, the third-best mark in the conference. The Battlers have done well to block shots as well with 4.6 rejections a game. Steals are also an AB staple as the Battlers enter with eight a game. Both numbers are second in the conference.

Individually Gabe Kynard leads the Storm with 17.3 points per game, just outside of the top five in the G-MAC. Keeping him out of the top five currently is AB's Mike Davis who is a hair ahead at 17.4 a game.

Lake Erie has a trio of players inside the top 20 in the G-MAC in rebounding with Brogan Scott leading the way for the Storm with 6.0 a game. Mitch Loomis and Erron James are right behind him with 5.8 and 5.7 per game, respectively. Alderson Broaddus' Brandon Simmons leads the category with 10.8 a game.
