Guarino and Hennessey Lead Storm Men to 3rd Place Finish at Gannon

PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- Sophomore Mike Guarino (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) finished 11th and junior Matt Hennessey (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) placed 12th to lead the Lake Erie College men's golf team to a third-place finish at the one-day Gannon Fall Invitational in Erie, Pa. on Monday (OCt. 11).

The Storm scored 323 as a team, tying with Mercyhurst College. Wayne State University won the team title with a 298, led by individual medalist Steve Fedewa (70).

Guarino shot a seven-over 79 while Hennessey was one stroke behind at 80. Sophomore Troy Hunter (Aurora, Ohio/Crestwood) and freshman Tyler Walters (Middlefield, Ohio/Cardinal) tied for 17th individually with matching 82's.

Lake Erie is next in action Oct. 18-19 at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional #2 in St. Louis, Mo.
