Guarino Shoots In Top 15 At Ashland Invite

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Junior Mike Guarino (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) placed tied for 15th to lead Lake Erie College's efforts at the Ashland University Invitational at the Country Club of Ashland. 

The Storm finished with a total of 327-327-654 at the two-day event to finish 12th of 13 teams, eight strokes ahead of Notre Dame College.  The University of Findlay won the event with a score of 598 on the par 72 course. 

Guarino shot 75-78-153 to lead Lake Erie.  The round of 75 on day one placed Guarino tied for fourth and included a blistering 34 (-2) on the front nine.

Placing behind Guarino in tied for 32nd place was senior Frank Whites III (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) who shot 77-81-158.  His 77 placed him tied for 14th after the first round.

Others in action for Lake Erie were senior Matt Hennessey (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon), junior Troy Hunter (Aurora, Ohio/Crestwood) and sophomore Tyler Walters (Middlefield, Ohio/Cardinal).  Hennessey and Walters shot identical rounds of 88-84-172 while Hunter carded 87-89-176. 

Lake Erie's final tournament of the season comes Saturday (April 28) at the GLIAC Preview hosted at Elyria Country Club.
