Guarino Tied for 15th After Competitive First Round of GLIAC Fall Event

SOUTH HAVEN, MICH. – Senior Mike Guarino (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) shot an opening-round 2-over 74 and is tied for 15th place after 18 holes at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Fall Event at Hawkshead Golf Course in South Haven, Mich. Sunday (Sept. 23).

Despite Guarino's solid play, he was the only Lake Erie College men's golfer to rank in the top 65 and the team is in 16th place overall.

Sophomore Tyler Walters (Middlefield, Ohio/Cardinal) and freshman Bart Wyss (Salem, Ohio/Salem) each shot a respectable 79 in the first round, but on a day when 12 golfers shot par or better those scores were only good enough for a tie for 66th place.

The Storm can make up some ground in round two.  Their 313 total score is just one stroke behind Lake Superior State University and five back of a pair of schools tied for 13th

Round two continues on Monday.
