NEW ALBANY, Ohio – Lake Erie placed 13th in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Spring Invitational which concluded on Sunday.
Sophomore Jimmy Wild had a big tournament for the Storm, carding a T-9 finish at 77-75—152. Sunday's 75 marked a measure of reprisal for Wild who faded into a 46th-place finish in the same event last year when he shot a second-round 88. Both the 2013 and 2014 spring invites were held at the Winding Hollow G.C. in New Albany, Ohio.
Led by tournament medalist and 2014 GLIAC Player of the Year Tyler Light (74-69—143), Malone won the event, edging Grand Valley State (Mich.), 595 to 602. Ferris State-Mich. (607) finished third. Malone had the event's No.1, No.3 and No. 4 finishers.
LEC's No. 2 man on the weekend was Ian Hardesty, who earned a top-50 (T-49) with a score of 80-82—162.
Wild was consistent in backing up his round-one 77. For the 36-hole tournament, he carded 24 pars over the par-72, 6,870-yard Arthur Hills layout.
