One of the Department of Athletics longest tenured coaches, Milt Johnson is in his 10th year directing the Lake Erie College golf program. He has coached the men’s team in each year of its existence and has guided the women’s team since it was brought back to campus five years ago.

On the men’s side, Johnson was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Coach of the Year in 2007 after leading the team to its best season in program history. He coached the AMCC Co-Player of the Year who earned three of the league’s five Player of the Week honors. Johnson also led the women’s golf team in its first official season of competition in 2007.

Johnson was born in Painesville and attended nearby Harvey High School. He continued his education at Mount Union College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He was a two-sport athlete at Harvey, participating in golf and basketball, and was a four-year letterman in golf at the collegiate level for the Purple Raiders.

Johnson has coaching experience at both the high school and college levels. He coached the Lake Catholic High School junior varsity golf team for two years and the Lake Erie Storm women’s basketball team for one season. Johnson also coached CYO basketball for 12 years.

Johnson has been a PGA Class A member since 1981. He is the Head PGA Professional at Madison Country Club and resides in Painesville.
