Storm Falls to Ohio Dominican in Opener

PAINESVILLE, OHIO - In a matchup of future conference opponents, Ohio Dominican University scored a pair of second half goals to spoil the Lake Erie College men's soccer team's season-opener in the first game of the John Toebben Classic at Northern Kentucky University.

After a scoreless first half, the Panthers (1-0) struck just 1:50 into the second with Felix Darko converting a goal from eight yards out. Chris Feller added the second ODU goal with a header off Justin Wheeler's free kick at 58:23.

The Storm (0-1) managed just five shots in the match, compared with 18 by Ohio Dominican. Senior Jared Daley (Hubbard, Ohio/Ursuline) saved six of the eight shots he faced in goal for Lake Erie. Tyler Gleason stopped all four shots against him for the Panthers.

Both teams are slated to join the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) next season.

Lake Erie will play the host team, 4th-ranked Northern Kentucky, on Sunday (Aug. 30) at 4 p.m.
