Storm Adds Three to 2010 Roster
PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College men's soccer program have added three College of Southern Maryland transfer student-athletes to its 2010 recruiting class. Each of the three has earned either conference, regional, state or All-American honors and have all signed National Letters of Intent to attend Lake Erie College and play soccer for the Storm beginning in the fall of 2010.
Signing to the
program are Marco Gaudio (Cambridge, England), Gary Carr
(Dublin, Ireland) and Colby Powers (Woodbridge, Va.).
“All of the incoming
players are very committed to the sport, to their academics, and to
improving what the graduating seniors helped establish,” said
Storm assistant coach Davie Carmichael. “With our returning
squad of upperclassmen, these recruits should blend well
to keep our growth on the field and in the classroom
consistent.”
Gaudio, an English striker,
earned All-Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference team
and All-Region XX Team honors as a freshman at the College of
Southern Maryland. He was also named an All-American Honorable
Mention in his sophomore year, leading the nation in scoring with
41 goals. He recorded 60 goals and 33 assists in his two years at
CSM.
Carr, a midfielder and a
product of the Irish Coláiste Íde College of Further
Education Soccer Academy was
named to the All-Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference team
his freshman year and recorded four goals and 18
assists.
Powers, who can play in the
midfield and in defense, was named to the All-Maryland Junior
College Athletic Conference team and won defensive MVP as a
starting central defender at CSM. He also scored four goals and
helped lead the team to seven shutouts while on the back
line.
The Storm, which finished 7-11-2
in 2009 as a Division II independent, will enter the Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 2010.
