Lake Erie men's soccer (0-1) fell behind early and could not catch up in a 3-1 loss to Wheeling Jesuit University (1-0) in Wheeling, W. Va.

The Cardinals struck first in the 15th minute when Victor Picchio scored on a penality.  Wheeling Jesuit extended its lead to 2-0 at 34:43 as Philip Mshelbwala found the back of the net and that was the advantage at halftime.

In goal for Lake Erie, sophomore Ricky Carreira (Toronto, Ont./Dante Alighieri Academy) made three saves.

Wheeling Jesuit held an 11-10 advantage in shots while Lake Erie won the battle of corner kicks, 5-4.

The Storm are in action next on Sunday, Sept. 5 when they host Urbana University at 2:00 p.m. in Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.
