Men's Soccer Picked Fourth in GLIAC South in Coaches' Preseason Poll

BAY CITY, Mich.-- The Lake Erie College men's soccer team was picked to finish fourth in the South Division of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) by the head coaches in the division, in the annual preseason poll announced Thursday (Aug. 23). The Storm finished in fifth place last season, with a 5-5-2 conference record, missing a playoff spot by a single point.

The Storm return several key players from last season including All-GLIAC First Team selection Randy Danso and Willy Cognee, the 2011 GLIAC Rookie of the Year.

Lake Erie received 22 points in the poll. Affiliate member Notre Dame College is the preseason favorite to win the division, receiving seven first-place votes and 43 points. Ohio Dominican University is projected to finish second in the division, with three first-place votes and 38 points, followed by Walsh University with 27 points. Saginaw Valley State University is the favorite to win the North Division, with five first-place votes and 42 points.

The Storm kick off the season at Maryville University (Mo.) on August 31st.
