SOUTH EUCLID, OHIO—The Lake Erie College men's soccer team overcame an early Notre Dame College lead to defeat the Falcons 3-1 Thursday night (Oct. 11) in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match in South Euclid.

Notre Dame entered the contest atop the GLIAC and ranked 14th in the nation.

The Falcons (9-3-0, 7-3-0) scored the first goal of the match in the ninth minute when Christian Eearnest found Colton Tanner on a cross to give the Falcons the 1-0 advantage. With a minute remaining in the first half, the Storm (4-9-0, 3-7-0) tied the match at one off the foot of freshman Robert Vallareli (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon).

The Storm's momentum carried into the second half as sophomore Stefan Martin (Surrey, England) lobbed a shot over Falcon's goalie Jan Skorupinski from 20-yards out to put the Storm ahead 2-1 in the 47th minute. Martin sealed the victory with his second goal of the match just nine minutes later, also from 20-yards out. The Storm defense, lead by freshman goalie Filip Ljubevski, kept the Falcons off the board the rest of the game, picking up the 3-1 conference victory on the road.

Ljubevski tallied a season high 12 saves in the win. Behind Martin's two goals, the Storm had their highest offensive output of the season.

This was the second meeting between the two schools this season. Notre Dame previously defeated the Storm 3-0 on Sept. 8.

The Storm return to action on Tuesday (Oct. 6) in a nonconference matchup at Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Pa.
