NORTH CANTON, Ohio—The Lake Erie College men's soccer team won its third straight Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match with a 2-1 win over Walsh University Friday night (Oct. 19) in North Canton, Ohio.
The Cavaliers (3-10, 2-8) struck first. Jordan Semple capitalized on a penalty shot opportunity in the fifth minute, sneaking it past Storm Filip Ljubevski (Ajax, Ont./Pickering), for the first and only goal of the first half.
The Storm (5-10, 4-7 GLIAC) answered the goal in the 63rd minute when Stefan Martin (Surrey, England) put a cross from Luke Hobbs (Yarm, England/Conyers School) in the back of the net to tie the match at one. The Storm struck once again in the 80th minute when Anthony Novak (Toronto, Ont./St. Mary Catholic) scored off the rebound from a Stewart Bath (Billingham, England/Billingham Campus School/Averett University) shot to seal the 2-1 victory.
Lujubevski recorded three saves in the win for the Storm.
The Storm held the advantage in shots (11-9) and corner kicks (3-2).
Lake Erie returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 20), traveling to Columbus to face GLIAC foe Ohio Dominican University (9-4-1, 7-3-0 GLIAC) at 4 pm.
