BAY CITY Mich.—Lake Erie College men's soccer junior Alfred Majer (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) has been named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in leading the Storm to victory over the University of Findlay and Ohio Dominican University this past weekend (Sept. 20-22).
Majer scored four goals in two games to earn the honor, the first GLIAC Player of the Week for a Lake Erie men's soccer player since joining the league in 2010.
On Friday, Majer scored three times against Findlay to lead the Storm to a 4-1. Then, on Sunday, Majer scored a pivotal game-tying goal against the then 23rd-ranked Panthers, helping the Storm complet the 2-1 upset in double overtime.
Majer currently leads the GLIAC in goals (6) and points (12).
The Storm, currently ranked 9th in the Midwest Region in the latest polls, face Tiffin University in a GLIAC showdown on Wednesday (Sept. 25) in Tiffin, Ohio.
