BAY CITY, MICH.—Six members of the Lake Erie College men's soccer team were named to All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams announced Friday evening (Nov. 8).
Senior midfielder Stewart Bath (Billingham, England/Billingham Campus School/Averett University) was named to the All-GLIAC First-Team. Bath started in 14 games this season and recorded one assist.
Junior forward Alfred Majer (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) and sophomores Filip Ljubevski (Ajax, Ont./Pikering), Joseph Coombs (Knutsford, England/Holmes Chapel Sixth Form) and Ryan Gibson (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scioto) were named to the All-GLIAC Second-Team. Majer recorded eight goals and two assists in his first season with the Storm. Goalkeeper Ljubevskihad allowed only 1.13 goals per game and recorded four shutouts. Coombs, a defender, played in all of the Storm's games this season, making 16 starts. Gibson, 2012 All-GLIAC Honorable Mention, recorded two goals and four assists this season.
Freshman Nolyn Do Nascimento rounded out the Storm selections, being named a Honorable Mention. A midfielder, Do Nascimento (Ajax, Ont./Pickerington) recorded the game-winning goal on the road in overtime against Northwood University on Oct. 20.
In other GLIAC news, Saginaw Valley State University's Tyler Channell, Michael Lamb and Jordan Kalk were named GLIAC Offensive, Defensive and Freshman of the Year awards respectively. Walsh University's Justin Nolan was named Goalkeeper of the Year and Ohio Dominican University coach Willy Merrick was named Coach of the Year.
