MENTOR, OHIO – The Lake Erie College men's tennis team dropped its second straight match, falling to visiting Ferris State University, 9-0, in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest Thursday (March 28) at the Mentor Heisley Racquet & Fitness Club.
The loss marked the first time this season the Storm (1-8, 0-4 GLIAC) was shutout. Freshman Liam Goldberg (Victoria, Australia/Haileybury College) suffered his first defeat of the season at first singles, falling to last year's GLIAC Rookie of the Year, Laurent Galarneau, 6-2, 6-4. The loss dropped Goldberg's record to 8-1.
The Bulldogs (9-2, 6-0 GLIAC) won their third straight match by taking all six singles matches in straight sets. Ferris State also won the three doubles matches by at least four games.
Lake Erie will look to put an end to its current skid and pick up its first conference win of the season Saturday afternoon, March 30, when the Storm host Grand Valley State University at 4 p.m.
