TIFFIN, OHIO -- The Lake Erie College men's tennis team opened its three-match weekend road trip on a down note, falling at Tiffin University 8-1 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match Friday (April 5).
The highlight for the Storm (1-10, 0-5 GLIAC) came at first singles where freshman Liam Goldberg (Melbourne, Australia/Haileybury College) picked up a 6-3, 604 victory over Luiz Carvalho. It was Goldberg's 10th win of the season, moving him to 10-1 overall and 5-1 in the GLIAC at first singles.
The Dragons (13-6, 2-4 GLIAC) took the other five singles matches in straight sets.
Tiffin also won all three doubles matches, including a thrilling 9-8 win by Carvalho and Robbie Ball at first singles over Goldberg and redshirt freshman Juan Roggia (San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina/Sa Grado Corazon).
The Storm continue their road trip Saturday, April 6, at Ohio Dominican University.
