BAY CITY, MICH. -- Lake Erie College freshman Liam Goldberg (Melbourne, Australia/Haileybury College) was named to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis First Team for the 2013 season while redshirt freshman Juan Roggia (San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina/Sa Grado Corazon) received honorable mention on the All-GLIAC squad released by the conference office Tuesday (April 23).
Goldberg is Lake Erie's first first-team selection in tennis. His debut season featured an impressive 14-3 overall record at first singles, including an 8-3 GLIAC mark. Goldberg won his first eight matches to start his college career and lost just seven sets all season.
He also produced a 6-11 mark in doubles competition at the No. 1 spot. Most of those matches were with Roggia as the pair combined for a 5-7 mark as a tandem.
Roggia was 5-10 overall in doubles action and was second on the team with three individual singles victories, playing all his matches at second doubles.
Lake Erie posted a 2-15 overall record and 0-11 GLIAC mark as a team in 2012-13.
