Torres Wins Twice at Kenyon Last Chance Invite

Lake Erie College sent four swimmers to compete at the Kenyon College Last Chance Invitational on Saturday.

Freshman Daniel Torres (Chihuahua, Mexico) was a multi-event winner taking the 200-yard IM in 1:53.92 and 100-yard backstroke in 52:05.  Both are Division II NCAA "B" Cut times but neither improved on the "B" cuts Torres established at last weekend's GLIAC Championships.  Torres much now wait to see if any of his times hold up to earn a trip to the NCAA Championships in San Antonio, Texas next month.

Also competing on the men's side was freshman Alex Brown (Reno, Nev./Galena), swimming the 100-yard butterfly in 53.13 and 50-yard freestyle in 22.60.

On the women's side, freshmen Casey Wendall (Lafayette, Ind./McCutcheon) and Lauren Menicucci (Reno, Nev./Reno) combined for three personal-bests and school records.  Wendall set bests in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:02.39 and 500-yard freestyle at 5:34.12.  Meenicucci swam the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.88.
