GLIAC Championships Day Three Recap

CANTON, Ohio—The Lake Erie College swimming teams had a successful day three of the 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.

Lauren Menicucci (Reno, Nev./Reno) swam a season-best 4:44.90 in the 400-yard individual medley to pick up a 13th place finish. Jennifer Scholl (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood) set a new Lake Erie mark in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.36 to earn a 15th place finish. Joelyith Humpe (Rayland, Ohio/Wheeling Central Catholic), Ashley Rand (Uniontown, Ohio/Uniontown), Menicucci and Scholl set a school record in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:11.92.

The women have earned 66 points through the first three days.

Ivan Cizmar (Zagreb, Croatia/X. Gimnazija Ivan Supek) took second-place in the 400-yard IM with a season-best 3:59.07. Cizmar also took eighth in the 100-yard backstroke. Yan Milinkovskyi (Zaporozhye, Ukraine/Academical Laceum of Zaporizhia) took third-place with a time of 49.64 in the 100-yard fly. Y. Milinkovskyi also took 16th in the 200-yard freestyle. Julian Milinkovskyi (Ukraine) took ninth-place in the 100-yard breaststroke. David Thieshen (Bethal Park, Pa./Bethal Park) took 16th in the 100-yard fly to earn points for the Storm. Gabriel Green (Gilbert, Az./Mesquite) also earned points in the 400-yard IM with a 16th place finish. Cizmar, Y. Milinkovskyi, J. Milinkovskyi and Patrick Goelz (South Park, Pa./South Park) took sixth in the 400-yard medley relay.

The men have earned 156 points through the first three days. 

The Storm are at it again tomorrow for the final day of competition of The Championships.
