Martha Ruether Competes at 2013 Spring Paralympics CanAm Games

PAINESVILLE, Ohio-- Lake Erie College freshman swimmer Martha Ruether (Allegany, N.Y./Allegany-Limestone Central) competed in the 2013 Paralympics Spring CanAm held at the University of Minnesota April 4-6, taking home a first- and second-place finish, as well as a trio of fourth-place finishes in her classification.

Ruether capped off the final day of the games by taking first-place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 3:33.51. 

On the games first day, Ruether had a pair fourth-place finishes, coming in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:08.92- 2.32 seconds faster than her preliminary time- and in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:37.35, shaving nearly three seconds off of her preliminary time. 

The following day, Ruether finished in fourth-place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 30.43. Later in the day, Ruether took second-place in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:26.81, almost five seconds faster than her qualifying time.
