URBANA, Ohio – Lake Erie swept the men's, women's and combined scoring in dual action against Urbana and Davis & Elkins (W. Va.) on Saturday.
The Storm men topped Urbana, 125-110, and D & E, 160-90. The women won by scores of 147-82 (over Urbana) and 160-68 (over Davis & Elkins). In combined scoring, LEC topped Urbana, 272-192, and D & E, 320-158.
In 14 men's events, Lake Erie took first place in eight. Ivan Cizmar won three races on the day, touching in first in the 100-yard backstroke, the 200 butterfly and the 200 back. Cizmar's time in the 200 back (1:54.48) was more than three seconds clear of his nearest foe.
The Storm women won 10 events in the meet hosted by Urbana University. Meri Cizmar (two wins) and Casey Wendall (three) paced the women's squad. Cizmar set a new program record with one of her wins -- she swam the 100 back in 1:00.38 and finished nearly six seconds ahead of the second-place swimmer.
Lake Erie's season will continue next Saturday, when the Storm hosts California (Pa.), Gannon (Pa.) and Ursuline in a meet at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
