First fall: men topped by Eagles as Ashland sweeps Lake Erie

ASHLAND, Ohio – Lake Erie returned to action on Friday, as the Storm were swept by the host Ashland Eagles. The Ashland men topped Lake Erie, 133-62; the AU women prevailed by a final score of 118-75.


The Eagles won 10-of-13 events on the men's side and 12-of-13 on the women's.


The LEC men picked up wins in the 200-yard butterfly (Julian Milinkovskyi), 100 freestyle (Yan Milinkovskyi) and 200 breaststroke (Julian Milinkovskyi).


Meri Cizmar claimed the lone victory for the Storm women. Cizmar won the 200 backstroke, posting a time of 2:09.55.


The men's loss marked the team's first of the season; Lake Erie had been 4-0-1 coming into the meet. The LEC women are now 4-4.


Friday's meet against the Eagles marked the Storm's first action since the squad's week-long Florida training trip. Lake Erie is slated to return to competitive waters on Jan. 24, when the Green & White host Malone at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
