PAINESVILLE, Ohio—For the third straight year, senior Julian Milinkovskyi (Ukraine) and junior Ivan Cizmar (Zagreb, Croatia/X. Gimnaziga Ivan Supek) will represent the Lake Erie College swimming team at the NCAA Division-II Championships.
"I am really proud of the two men we have representing our program at the NCAA Division II Championship," said Head Coach Nicole Rose. "It is fantastic that although the meet has continued to become more and more competitive, that these two athletes have remained at the top of the pack."
Millinkovskyi provisionally qualified in six events but will be limited to just five entrances and four competitions per NCAA rules. Milinkovksyi's highest seed is seventh in the 200-yard individual medley, with a time of 1:48.28. He placed third at the GLIAC Championships in the event. Milinkovskyi is also entered in the 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly and the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke. At the GLIAC Championships, Milinkovskyi earned third-place finishes in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke and sixth in the 100-yard butterfly.
Cizmar is currently seeded seventh with a time of 3:54.43 in the 400-yard individual medley, an event that he won at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship a few weeks back, setting a conference record. Cizmar will also be swimming the 200-yard backstroke, seeded 12th with a time of 1:47.15. He placed second in the event at the GLIAC Championships.
"Ivan and Julian raced great this season, they had excellent performances at GLIAC Champs, and we are still training hard and preparing for some excellent races back in our home pool at Spire for DII Champs," added Rose.
The Championships take place at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio- the same site that hosted the GLIAC Championships and Storm home meets this season. The events start on Wednesday, March 12th and conclude on Saturday, March 15th.
