Ivan and Meri Cizmar Earn CSCAA Scholar All-American Honors

PAINESVILLE, Ohio—Lake Erie College swimmers Ivan Cizmar (Zagreb, Croatia/X. Gimnazija Ivan Supek) and Meri Cizmar (Zagreb, Croatia/X. Gimnazija Ivan Supek) earned College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) 2014 Individual Scholar All-American honors for the performance in and out of the pool this season.

Ivan Cizmar earned Scholar All-American honors while Meri Cizmar earned Honorable Mention Scholar All-American honors.

Scholar All-American honors are presented to collegiate swimmers and divers who have achieved a cumulative or term GPA 3.5 or higher during their season and competed at their National Championships. 

Honorable Mention Scholar All-American honors are presented to collegiate swimmers and divers who have achieved a cumulative or term GPA of 3.5 or higher and achieved a "B" time standard but did not qualify for their National Championships.

Ivan Cizmar competed in the 400-yard Individual Medley and the 200-yard backstroke at the Division-II National Championships.  Cizmar earned Honorable Mention All-American honors for his performance in the 200-yard backstroke at the event.  He also captured the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) title in the 400-yard individual medley.

Meri Cizmar set several school records in her first year with Storm swimming.  At the GLIAC Championships, Meri led the 200- and 400-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay teams to top-seven finishes.  After earning the Storm points by finishing ninth in the 100-yard backstroke, Cizmar capped off her first year with a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke.
