Lake Erie Falls to West Liberty State in Fifth Game This Week

PAINESVILLE, Ohio (January 8, 2009) - Lake Erie College concluded its five-game week with a 79-49 loss at home to West Liberty State College. Nothing seemed to go in favor of the Storm Thursday night as it shot a season-low 18-percent, making only 11 field goals in 40 minutes. Lake Erie connected on 23-of-35 free throw attempts, going 16-for-25 in the second half.

West Liberty, who defeated the Storm back on Nov. 16 by 13 points, led at the break 34-23 after shooting 35-percent from the field with six 3-pointers. The visitors concluded the night with a total of 12 treys after turning in a 42-percent shooting effort from the field.

Sophomore Renese Ames (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford) scored 12 points to lead Lake Erie. On the glass, sophomore Alyssa Wagers (Stow, Ohio/Stow) and freshman Stephanie Rogers (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) had nine rebounds apiece. Wagers also had four of the teams 10 steals.

Lake Erie (5-13) does not play until Jan. 19 when it travels to Glenville State College for a 2 p.m. contests. The teams played in Painesville on Dec. 15 with the Storm winning, 87-68.
