STORM TO TAKE ON D-I VIKINGS: The Lake Erie College women's basketball team will play its second game in as many weeks against an NCAA Division I opponent on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 23, when it makes the short trip west to take on Cleveland State University at the Wolstein Center.  The Storm snapped a two-game losing streak on Monday night with a 77-65 win over area rival Notre Dame College.  The Vikings have won two straight, including a thrilling 77-75 overtime win at home against Indiana University on Saturday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE STORM: The Storm broke out of its two-game slump with a wire-to-wire 77-65 win over Notre Dame on Monday night. Four players scored in double figures led by junior Alyssa Wagers (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) with a career-high 22 points. Wagers also grabbed 10 boards for her sixth double-double of the year.  Sophomore Jen Caiola (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) hit five three-pointers on her way to 19 points and classmate Stephanie Rogers (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) scored 14 points and led all players with 11 rebounds and a career-high six blocks.  Senior Renese Ames (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford) was the other LEC player in double figures with 10 points.  The Storm shot 46.2% and held Notre Dame to just 31.8%.

BEST START IN SCHOOL HISTORY: With eight wins in the first 14 games, Lake Erie is off to the best start in program history.  Prior to this, the earliest a Storm team reached eight wins was 15 games during the 1982-83, 1991-92 and 2007-08 seasons.

30th SEASON OF STORM HOOPS: This is the 30th season in Lake Erie women's basketball history dating back to the 1978-79 season.  To date, the Storm has posted an overall record of 160-496 (.243).  However, 29 percent of the program's all-time wins have come in the last five seasons under head coach Bob Booher.

UP NEXT: The Storm opens the final week of 2009 on Monday night, Dec. 28, at future GLIAC foe Tiffin University. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
