Rogers Headlines Trio of Storm Players in National Rankings

PAINESVILLE, OHIO - Lake Erie College sophomore post Stephanie Rogers (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) ranks ninth nationally in blocked shots according to the latest NCAA Division II statistical rankings released Tuesday (Jan. 5). Several other Storm players also rank highly on the national level.

Rogers is averaging 2.7 blocks per contest, including nearly four (3.8) per game in her last nine. As a team, the Storm ranks 24th among all Division II teams with 4.6 blocked shots per game.

Junior Alyssa Wagers (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) is the nation's 39th leading rebounder, averaging 9.5 boards per game (Rogers is 112th at 7.8 rpg.) while sophomore Jen Caiola (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) is 53rd nationally in three-point field goals per game at 2.5. 

Lake Erie ranks in the top 50 in team free throw percentage (44th, 73.4%), fewest turnovers per game (40th, 16.7) and turnover margin (48th, +4.0).  

Each week during the season, the NCAA ranks the top 500 individuals and 300 teams statistically in a total of 27 categories.

The Storm (11-8) is next in action on Saturday, Jan. 9, when it takes its three-game winning streak on the road to Central State University. Tip-off is at 2 p.m. The Lake Erie men's team will also play Central State following the women's game.
