Five Reach Double Figures As Storm Rolls UC-Clermont 88-40 at ODU Classic

PAINESVILLE, OHIO - Five players scored in double figures as the Lake Erie College women's basketball team rolled to an 88-40 victory over the University of Cincinnati-Clermont on the opening night of the Ohio Dominican University Classic Friday (Dec. 4) in Columbus.

The Storm (4-4) scored the first 10 points of the game and forced 32 turnovers in winning for the fourth time in six games.

Senior Renese Ames (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford) led the way with a game and season-high 19 points off the bench, going nine-of-14 from the field. Meanwhile, sophomore Stephanie Rogers (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) recorded her first double-double of the year with 12 points and team-leading 10 rebounds.

 Rogers did all of her work in the first half as the Storm led 42-23 at the break. Lake Erie shot 53.5 percent (16-30) in the first half while the Cougars (4-2) managed to make just seven-of-35 (20%) in the opening frame.

As impressive as the first half was, the Storm extended its lead by outscoring UC-Clermont 46-17 after halftime, limiting the Cougars to just six field goals and three free throws. And, the second straight game, junior Alyssa Wagers (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) was the dominant force in the second 20 minutes, scoring 11 points and grabbing five rebounds. She finished the game with 13 points and seven boards.

In addition to Ames, Rogers and Wagers, sophomores Jen Caiola (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) and Britt Busson (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) also reached double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Sophomore Allison Pavkov (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) pulled down a career-high-tying eight rebounds as the Storm held a 47-40 edge on the boards.

Lake Erie also converted the 32 Cougar turnovers into 44 points.

UC-Clermont had two players reach double figures. Dawn Rapp led the way with 11 points while Cayla Stutz added 10. Marisa Stutz grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Storm will conclude action at ODU on Saturday afternoon against Midway College. Tip-off at Alumni Hall is set for 1 p.m.
