Women's Basketball to Open GLIAC Tournament at Michigan Tech

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – The Lake Erie College women's basketball team will make its Division II postseason debut on Wednesday night, Feb. 29, at Michigan Technological University in the quarterfinal round of the 2012 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament.

Tip-off will be at 5:30 p.m. at the Student Development Center Gymnasium in Houghton, Mich.

The Storm, which finished the regular season with a 16-10 overall record and 10-9 GLIAC mark, is seeded fifth in the eight-team field.  Michigan Tech (19-6, 14-5 GLIAC), the defending national runners-up, earned the fourth seed.  The Huskies tied Tiffin University for the third best record in the conference but lost a point-system tiebreaker to the Dragons, despite a 75-59 head-to-head win at home on Dec. 10.

Lake Erie and Michigan Tech met recently back on Feb. 18, with the Huskies pulling out a 69-66 win at the Jerome T. Osborne Family Athletic and Wellness Center in Painesville.

This will be the Storm's third playoff appearance all-time and the first since reaching the semifinals of the Division III Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament in 2008.
