Women Hit Road for First Time, Travel to Wayne State Sunday

PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- After opening the season with five straight home games, the Lake Erie College women's basketball team plays its first road contest of the season Sunday, Dec. 9, at Wayne State University.  The Storm (2-3, 0-2 GLIAC) is looking to snap a two-game losing streak since opening Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Confernence (GLIAC) play last week. Wayne State (2-3, 2-1 GLIAC) had its two-game winning streak snapped by top-ranked Ashland University on Wednesday.

LIGHTNING QUICK RECAP: A monster game by Ashar Harris and a six-point lead late weren't enough for the Storm as visiting Grand Valley State University rallied for a 57-52 overtime victory last Saturday (Dec. 1). Harris led all players with 24 points and a career-high-tying 22 rebounds but the Storm was outscored  14-3 in the final 6:08 of the game. (Box Score | Recap)

WARRIOR WATCH: Wayne State opened league play with a pair of road wins at Tiffin University and Ohio Dominican University before a 77-58 home loss to Ashland, the defending national runners-up, earlier this week.  Paige Sickmiller leads the team in scoring at 14.6 points per game and has 11 three-pointers.  Phaebre Colbert is averaging 12.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest. Talisha Bridges is the third Warrior in double figures at 10.4 points per game, but is averaging 13.7 in GLIAC play. 

STUDY BREAK: Sunday's game will mark the team's first in eight days following a break for Finals Week on campus. Prior to that, the game against Grand Valley wrapped up a stretch of four games in seven days. 

THE FORECAST: The Storm returns home to host Lake Superior State on Monday, Dec. 17.
