THE GAME: Lake Erie draws Saginaw Valley State for its final game of the 2013 calendar year. The Storm and Cardinals are slated to do battle in the front end of a women's-men's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference twin bill that will send the Green & White into a two-week break. For the Storm, Wednesday's game is an opportunity to end 2013 on a positive note -- LEC heads into the 6 p.m. tilt off four straight losses. The most recent of those missteps came on Saturday when the Green & White lost to Wayne State (Mich.), 68-48. In that game LEC and WSU battled their way to 13 ties and lead changes in the first half, but the Storm scuffled in the second, shooting just 17.9 percent (5-of-28) from the floor. Lake Erie's 48-point total marked the team's lowest single-game mark this season.

THE SERIES: LEC and SVSU have met three times, and the Cardinals have won two of those contests. The Cardinals won last year's meeting, going 27-of-31 from the free-throw line in a 67-58 win in University Center, Mich. Two years ago in Painesville, Lake Erie won a low-scoring affair, defeating SVSU, 44-36.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS: Saginaw Valley State heads into Wednesday's game off an 84-78 loss at Ashland on Monday. The Cardinals had won four straight before the loss. The Cardinals are 0-2 on the road this season and just 2-8 over their last 10 road games dating back to last season. ... G KATELYN CARRIERE scored 24P on Monday and has notched 47P over the Cardinals' last two games. Carriere is shooting 50 percent (8-of-16) from 3-point range and 81.8 percent (18-of-22) from the foul line. SVSU's leading scorer is G KRISTEN GREENE, who has tallied 16.7 PPG. ...
