WBK PREVIEW: Lake Erie heads west for games against Hillsdale, Findlay

LEC HEADS WEST FOR TWO: On Thursday the Lake Erie Storm will play a road game for the first time since Jan. 4. LEC will be at Hillsdale for the front half of a road trip that will also have the Storm playing at Findlay on Saturday. The games in Southern Michigan and Western Ohio continue play in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division for the Storm, who are thus far 1-7 in league play. The games represent a challenge for a Lake Erie squad coming off an 0-4 home stand: LEC went 0-4 against the Chargers and Oilers last season, averaging just 44 points per game.

 

SCOUTING THE CHARGERS: Hillsdale is four games under .500 (5-9) but is 3-2 over its last five games. The Chargers are 2-3 at home with their pair of victories coming over their last two tilts at Philips Arena. Overall, Hillsdale is averaging 69.4 points per game while yielding 71.6. ... Junior F MEGAN FOGT ranks second in the GLIAC in scoring, at 18.6 PPG. Fogt is shooting 55.5 percent (196-of-353) from the field on the year. She has scored 20-plus in three of her last four games. ... The Chargers out-rebounded the Storm by a sizeable margin (52-30) in last year's game in Hillsdale (Feb. 14). The Chargers won the game, 68-52, to sweep the season series.

 

SCOUTING THE OILERS:  Findlay started the season with four straight victories but is 3-7 since. On Thursday (vs. Ashland), UF begins a stretch that has the Oilers playing 6-of-7 at home. ... Findlay swept last year's season series with Lake Erie and is 12-1 all-time against the Storm. ... On offense, UF relies heavily on the three-ball -- the Oilers rank second in the GLIAC with 7.7 3-pointers made per game. Findlay ranks fourth in the nation in turnover margin, with a mark of plus-8.4.
