Women's Basketball Adds Three Signees

PAINESVILLE, Ohio—The Lake Erie College women's basketball team added three talented players to their 2015 recruiting class during the fall signing period.

Guard Victoria Burdo from Anthony Wayne, post player Sophie Sonneman from Greenview and wing Megyn Christensen from Swanton will join the Storm next year.

"All three recruits have the ability to contribute immediately at both ends of the court," said Storm Head Coach Bob Booher. "In addition, all are very strong academically and will be solid student - athletes in the classroom as well."

Below is a breakdown of the new members of the Storm.

Victoria Burdo (5-9/Guard)

Anthony Wayne Generals (Coach Jeremy Terwillinger)

Coach Booher's Comments: "Victoria is a strong perimeter defender, a solid passer, and a skilled ball handler. She can fill the role of a point guard and team leader or be a scorer and three point threat from the wing."

Sophie Sonneman (6-1/Post)

Greenview Rams (Coach Tim Hollie)

Averaged 13.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in junior year…helped the Greenview Rams achieve a 24-4 record while winning the Section and District Championships…First-Team All-District Nine…Dabbelt Report First-Team Division 3…Second-Team All-Dayton Area and All-Ohio Heritage selections…Honorable Mention All-Southwest Ohio…Team Sportsmanship Award winner…Top 100 Underclassman Showcase Nominee…Daughter of Chris and Tiffany Sonneman

Coach Booher's Comments: "Sophie is athletic, runs the floor well, defends the post, rebounds, sets strong screens, and passes well out of double teams. She'll gives us depth in the post and fit in well with our full court defensive schemes."

Megyn Christensen (5-10/Wing)

Swanton Bulldogs (Coach Frank Onweller)

Averaged eight points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game as a junior at Swanton…All-District selection...daughter of Brad and Trisha Christensen

Coach Booher's Comments: "Megyn is a strong shooter with great three point range as well as the ability to score inside. She has the strength to guard post players but is quick enough to defend on the perimeter. "
