Women's Basketball Adds Ashley West to 2016 Recruiting Class

PAINESVILLE, Ohio—The Lake Erie College women's basketball announced the signing of Ashley West Friday (April 22) to complete what is arguably the strongest recruiting class since 2007.

That year, Storm Head Coach Bob Booher added five recruits that after four years were the most successful group to play Storm women's basketball.  Led by two 1000 point scorers in Stephanie Rogers (Mentor) and Jen Caiola (Chagrin Falls), along with shutdown defender Britt Busson (Wadsworth) and valuable reserves, Allison Pavkov (Stow) and Liz Stephens (North Royalton), the group won 43 games and made the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) tournament.

The addition of West to prior signees Kendall Anderson, Farrah Benner, Josie Chaddock and Jordan Joseph has Booher believing that this group will rival that class as the most successful in Storm history.

Coach Booher's Comments: "Ashley is a great addition to our recruiting class. Her stats show the ability to step up on the big stage. She is an explosive athlete with a very quick first step and the ability to finish in traffic.  With an improving outside shot, she can be an effective scorer at our level.  Defensively, Ashley has the length to guard a four and the quickness to defend on the perimeter.  I expect her to be a factor in all of our defensive schemes.  I am thrilled to have her join the Storm program."
